Two weeks and counting...

It has been two weeks since our arrival in Maputo, Mozambique. JJ and I are safe and sound and STILL staying in the hotel. We are looking forward to moving into our apartment this week. Our container (that was taken hostage) should be released to us no later than tomorrow...whew!!!

I apologize for not writing sooner. It has been a whirlwind since our first day here. We have had cocktails at the British High Commission, Welcome and Bon Voyage parties, dinner with "new" friends and I have taken some time scouting out volunteer opportunities. And let's not forget my "manual" driving lessons on the WRONG side of the road. More on those adventures later...let's just say that I used to be a good driver.

In any event I promise to update you regularly in the future. Everyone asks in their emails, "How is it?." The best way for me to describe Maputo is to take you on a tour. You can check out "Drive Through Maputo" at http://www.vanherksen.shutterfly.com/. I apologize for the quality of the photos but I literally took photos from the car as JJ and I ran some errands around the city last week. As you can see the city is extremely poor, but there are many other sides to Mozambique that I hope to share with you.

Before we got to Maputo we spend some time in Holland and had a mini-honeymoon in Paris. You can check out the photos at http://www.vanherksen.shutterfly.com/.

I am so amazed at all that has happened. I can't even imagine all that you have been going through - all the excitement of it all! Just know we miss you and no one would have ever thought you would not keep us up to date - you happen to be one of the most organized people I know! haha The photos are amazing, I have already shared them across the states! haha And I love the blog title! I can't wait for the updates...I only live vicariously! haha Love you both, Lee Ann Craig and Cael
